In a significant move within the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister M K Stalin announced on Monday that the state's awareness campaign regarding delimitation has resonated at the national level. He emphasized the urgency of a fair delimitation process, which will involve Members of Parliament meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The push for equitable delimitation is rooted in ensuring the rights of Tamil Nadu and similarly affected states are preserved. The campaign, embodied by the slogan ''Tamil Nadu will fight, Tamil Nadu will win,'' is supported by all 39 Tamil Nadu MPs from DMK and its allies, like the Congress and Left parties. Chief Minister Stalin extended gratitude to all state parties, including the main opposition AIADMK, for backing this initiative at the March 22 Joint Action Committee meeting.
The DMK-led Joint Action Committee has appealed to the Centre to maintain the freeze on Parliamentary constituencies based on the 1971 Census for an additional 25 years. This request will be formally submitted to Prime Minister Modi during the current Parliamentary session, emphasizing the call for a fair and just delimitation process.
