Egypt Brokers New Gaza Ceasefire Proposal Amid Rising Tensions
Egypt has proposed a new plan to restore the Gaza ceasefire after recent escalations between Israel and Hamas. The proposal involves Hamas releasing five Israeli hostages weekly, with a structured timeline for Israel's withdrawal. The U.S. and Hamas have agreed, but Israel has yet to respond.

Egypt unveiled a fresh proposal last week aimed at renewing the Gaza ceasefire, according to security sources speaking to Reuters on Monday.
This initiative comes in response to heightened violence following Israel's resumed air and ground operations against Hamas last Tuesday, ending a two-month stretch of relative peace. The plan suggests a phased release of Israeli hostages by Hamas, with Israel engaging in a subsequent ceasefire phase.
While the U.S. and Hamas have shown agreement to the proposal, Israel has not provided a response. The plan also includes a schedule for the release of all hostages in exchange for Israel's full withdrawal, underpinned by assurances from the U.S.
