The Islamabad High Court has reinstated bi-weekly visitation rights for Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently held at Adiala Jail. The court's decision aims to ensure that Khan can have regular contact with family, friends, and legal counsel while maintaining compliance with jail rules.
The three-member bench issued an order for the meetings to occur on different days each week, emphasizing that visitors must avoid making political statements. Khan's attorney, Zaheer Abbas, confirmed that meetings with family and lawyers would be on Tuesdays, while Thursdays would be reserved for meetings with friends.
Changes in visitation were prompted by Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi's corruption conviction in January. Authorities expressed concerns about political statements made by Khan's visitors, leading to tightened security measures. Only visitors approved by PTI coordinator Salman Akram Raja are permitted, and they must sign an undertaking refraining from public commentary post-visitation.
