The Jharkhand government is set to embark on a caste-based survey in the upcoming financial year, as confirmed by a state minister during the Assembly session. The Personnel Department has been designated as the lead agency for this endeavor.
Transport, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Deepak Birua emphasized the government's commitment to executing this task, which was decided upon in February last year. The survey will draw inspiration from similar initiatives in Telangana and Bihar, with efforts focused on the financial and logistical planning required.
Additionally, discussions in the Assembly also covered the pending municipal elections, originally due by May 16. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar announced that the elections are contingent upon the completion of a 'triple test' survey, ensuring proper representation for Other Backward Classes. This involves a comprehensive inquiry and setting reservation quotas, along with strict adherence to not exceeding a 50 percent reservation cap.
