The Odisha government has taken stern action against corruption, as evidenced by the dismissal of 120 government employees and the compulsory retirement of 39 officials over the last five years. This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly on Monday.

Responding to a question from BJD legislator Dhruba Charan Sahoo, CM Majhi detailed actions taken against corrupt officials who were found guilty of acquiring disproportionate assets between 2020 and 2024. The government's crackdown has also resulted in the seizure of assets valued at Rs 59.47 crore.

According to Majhi, the highest number of dismissals occurred in 2023 and 2024, with 31 and 30 officials dismissed respectively. Compulsory retirements peaked in 2021 with 23 officials affected. This decisive action aims to curtail corruption within the state's public sector.
