The Congress has charged the BJP with orchestrating a 'completely fake' issue to force parliamentary adjournment and avoid debating serious accusations concerning Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Varma. The row unfolded as BJP members focused on Muslim reservations in Karnataka.
BJP legislators brought the issue to the Lok Sabha, accusing state Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of intending to amend the Constitution for four percent Muslim reservations. However, Shivakumar denied these claims, asserting no intent to change the Constitution.
Amid ongoing contentions, the Supreme Court posted an in-house inquiry report online, probing claims of a cash stash at Justice Varma's residence, prompting Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna to initiate a further investigation and restrict Varma's judicial duties.
