In a major bust, police arrested two individuals in south Mumbai on charges of transporting illegal meat. The controversial cargo was seized during a late-night operation.
The tempo carrying the illegal goods was stopped in the Nagpada area, following reports from vigilant residents, officials confirmed. The meat has been sent for further testing to ascertain its nature and source.
The tempo owner and the driver have been detained under section 325 for mischief by killing or maiming animal, along with other applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. An investigation is underway to trace the origins and intended destination of the meat.
