The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has taken steps to streamline its operations by notifying 1,068 employees of their eligibility in the buyout program initiated under the Trump administration. This outreach constitutes approximately 3% of the Corps' civilian workforce, according to a statement released on Wednesday by a spokesperson.
The move aims to optimize the existing workforce and enhance efficiency within the Corps, which focuses on infrastructure construction and permitting as part of its responsibilities under the U.S. military umbrella.
Spokesperson Gene Pawlik confirmed via email that the Corps has, fortunately, managed to avoid layoffs of probationary workers, maintaining employment levels amidst the ongoing eligibility notifications.
