A man was detained by the authorities on Wednesday after allegedly verbally abusing a Panchayat Development Officer over a language issue at Kinaye Gram Panchayat, officials reported.
The man, identified as Tippanna Subhash Dokre, reportedly confronted Nagendra Pattar, the Panchayat Development Officer, on Tuesday concerning a property issue. Dokre demanded documents in Marathi while the officer communicated in Kannada, escalating to verbal abuse.
A video capturing the altercation spread widely online, prompting police intervention and Dokre's arrest. Belagavi DCP Rohan Jagadeesh confirmed that a case has been registered for obstructing a public servant, and a thorough investigation is underway.
