Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a strategic visit to the northeastern states of Assam and Mizoram starting March 14. Shah's visit will be marked by key engagements including addressing the annual conference of the All Bodo Students' Union in Kokrajhar, Assam. He will also attend a significant event for the relocation of Assam Rifles from Aizawl to the new designated area in Zokhawsang, Mizoram, which is expected to have important implications for regional security dynamics.

Besides the major gatherings, Shah is scheduled to review the implementation of three newly introduced criminal laws applicable to the region. These laws, replacing colonial-era legislation such as the Indian Penal Code, are aimed at modernizing the legal framework, with the Home Minister closely monitoring their rollout across the states.

Accompanied by top political figures including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Bodoland Territorial Region chief Pramod Boro, Shah intends for the visit to foster discourse on education and youth development, particularly during the All Bodo Students' Union conference. The trip underscores the central government's commitment to the northeastern states and the ongoing efforts to implement comprehensive legal reforms.
