A Syrian fact-finding committee has pledged on Tuesday to ensure justice in the wake of sectarian killings during clashes instigated by Bashar al-Assad loyalists. The committee emphasized that nobody would be exempt from legal accountability, and it plans to pursue the arrest and prosecution of all involved perpetrators.

Amid mounting pressure, Syria's Islamist-led government is compelled to probe into reports of rampant civilian casualties, especially in villages dominated by the Alawite sect tied to the ousted president. "No one is above the law," committee spokesperson Yasser Farhan declared at a televised briefing, stating that findings will be reported to both the presidency and judiciary.

As preparations to summon witnesses and identify suspects are underway, the committee remains open to global cooperation, albeit prioritizing national processes. Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa raised doubts over the defense ministry's involvement, while the violence once again highlighted the country's sectarian divide.
