The Press Council of India (PCI) has called upon the Uttar Pradesh government to provide a thorough report on the recent murder of journalist Raghavendra Bajpai, affiliated with a prominent Hindi daily.
Expressing alarm, PCI Chairperson Ranjana Desai demanded detailed reports from several state officials, including the chief secretary and the director-general of police, regarding the circumstances surrounding Bajpai's death.
Bajpai was fatally shot by motorcycle-borne assailants on the Sitapur-Delhi National Highway, an incident which has raised concerns given his family's claims of prior threats.
