In a significant security operation, Mumbai police detained eight individuals at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for allegedly attempting to immigrate to London illegally. This group, masquerading as students and a professor in an education exchange program, was uncovered by immigration authorities.
The suspects, seven posing as students from a private university in Haryana and one as their professor, were charged with human trafficking. Sources report they used forged documents to secure UK visas. Their plans to travel to London via Jeddah were halted just before takeoff.
The Bureau of Immigration noted irregularities in their travel documentation, leading to an interrogation during which the accused failed to provide critical details about their supposed university destination. Authorities have launched an investigation, uncovering a larger human trafficking operation potentially involving an agent.
