BSF Foils Highest Smuggling Attempts in a Decade at Indo-Bangladesh Border

In 2024, the Border Security Force (BSF) achieved a significant feat by seizing contraband worth Rs 461.07 crore at the Indo-Bangladesh border, reportedly the highest value in the past decade. This update was provided to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, emphasized that the BSF has strategically intensified its efforts to thwart smuggling activities along the border. These efforts include enhanced surveillance, round-the-clock patrolling, and the establishment of observation posts.
The BSF has been proactive since 2015, confiscating goods valued at Rs 2806.17 crore. The minister noted additional measures such as increased personnel deployment, border fencing, floodlighting, and the use of advanced technological equipment to further secure the border.
