In a harrowing incident from Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, a 17-year-old Dalit girl has reportedly suffered abduction and sexual assault by four individuals, law enforcement officials stated on Tuesday.
The identified suspects, namely Bihari Saini, Ashok Yadav, Jiut Verma, and Arvind Sharma, allegedly transported the victim to Mathura, where the crime unfolded. The young girl, hailing from the Sukhpura police station area, managed a courageous escape and returned to her home three days later.
The girl's mother registered a formal complaint, prompting authorities to file charges against the quartet under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, POCSO Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Law enforcement, guided by Circle Officer Shyamkant, is diligently investigating the case.
