Chaos erupted in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly as BJP members staged a walkout following a clash with National Conference MLAs over the handling of Jal Shakti department protests. The demonstrators, primarily daily wage workers, faced detention and baton charges as they demanded overdue wages and employment regularization.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the humanitarian aspect of the issue, calling for patience until the government's stance on fulfilling these demands was clarified. He pointed out that the police's actions were not under direct control, and such incidents were regrettable.
The debate intensified as BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa criticized the absence of worker consideration in the budget, leading to a heated exchange and subsequent protests prompting the BJP's exit. Despite past strikes and discussions, the workers' struggles for resolution continue.
