In a significant rescue operation, 283 Indian nationals ensnared in a web of fake job offers in Myanmar have been successfully brought back to India. The operation coordinated by Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand, culminated with an Indian Air Force aircraft flying them home from Mae Sot, Thailand, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported.

The MEA emphasized that these individuals had been coerced into committing cybercrime and other fraudulent activities in scam centers along the Myanmar-Thailand border. The government has been diligent in its efforts to secure the release and return of its citizens who were lured to Southeast Asian countries by deceptive employment offers.

The ministry reiterated its warnings against such schemes and advised Indian nationals to verify the credentials of foreign employers through diplomatic missions and scrutinize recruiting agents before accepting job offers abroad.
