Authorities in the city have launched a manhunt for a suspect in a serious assault case at the bustling Swargate bus stand. The accused, Datta Gade, who has a criminal history, is alleged to have raped a 26-year-old woman in a parked state transport bus early Tuesday morning.
The Swargate bus stand, one of the largest junctions managed by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, became the scene of the crime when the suspect led the victim to an empty bus, under the guise of changing platforms. After the assault, the attacker fled the scene.
Investigations have identified Gade through CCTV footage, and multiple police teams are actively searching for him. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety and security at public transport hubs.
