A judicial inquiry commission tasked with investigating the tragic stampede at Triveni Sangam has commenced its review process. Arriving Monday morning, the commission got straight to work, meeting with local officials and reviewing pertinent facts and subjects, said Additional Director General of Police Bhanu Bhaskar.

The commission, comprising retired high court judge Harsh Kumar, ex-Director General of Police V K Gupta, and retired IAS officer D K Singh, is collaborating with various local organizations to examine related records. Documents requested by the commission are being provided, with a follow-up meeting scheduled post-Mahashivratri for further investigation.

The stampede, which took place at the Triveni Sangam during the Mela's Mauni Amavasya, led to the deaths of 30 individuals and injured 60 more. As a response, the Uttar Pradesh government set up this three-member commission to clarify the events leading up to the incident, with a one-month deadline to wrap up their findings.
