The Sri Lankan government has been rocked by recent high-profile killings, including the assassination of a notorious underworld figure in a courtroom shooting. Officials believe these acts aim to disrupt vital criminal investigations, including the long-standing inquiry into the devastating 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.

In a bid to reassure the public and stabilize the security situation, Ravi Seneviratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, confirmed stringent actions against those attempting to incite unrest. Despite efforts, public confidence wanes as the country grapples with rampant crime linked to organized gangs.

The Easter 2019 bombings, orchestrated by National Thawheed Jamaat with ISIS ties, left deep scars in Sri Lanka. With 273 lives lost, the pressure on leadership to deliver transparency and justice remains high. Both past and current administrations are under intense scrutiny for alleged negligence and cover-ups, as new waves of violence suggest a sustained threat to national peace.
