The anti-corruption watchdog, Lokpal, has rejected a complaint filed against former Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, on the grounds of jurisdictional limits, as outlined in an official order.
The complaint, lodged on October 18, 2024, alleged that the then-sitting CJI misused his office for acts of corruption and to favor a political entity. However, Lokpal determined it lacked jurisdiction to probe judges of the Supreme Court.
In an order dated January 3, Lokpal's panel, including Justice AM Khanwilkar, dismissed the complaint but emphasized that the complainant is free to seek other legal routes. The decision highlights the jurisdictional boundaries concerning judicial corruption inquiries.
