The United States Treasury's decision to sanction Integrity Technology Group, a Beijing-based cybersecurity firm, has drawn sharp criticism from China. The firm was penalized for its alleged involvement in multiple cyberattacks targeting crucial US infrastructure.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun blasted the move, alleging that the US is leveraging the cyberattack narrative to tarnish China's reputation. 'For some time now, the US side has been exaggerating so-called Chinese cyberattacks, even implementing illegal unilateral sanctions,' Guo stated in response to the sanctions.
Meanwhile, China's National Cyber Security Information Center reported that Chinese networks have also been victims of cyberattacks from various countries. The report highlighted threats from the US states of California and Florida, among others.
