In an unusual incident near the iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai, authorities discovered two cars sporting identical license plates on Monday. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter, with both vehicles and their drivers detained at the Colaba police station.

The duplication of number plates came to light around 12:30 PM, when a passerby noticed the twin SUVs parked in close proximity outside the hotel. The traffic police were promptly alerted to the situation, prompting an official inquiry into how the two cars ended up with the same registration number and which one might be using a forged plate.

Currently, statements from the drivers are being recorded, and further actions will be determined based on the information collected. The probe aims to uncover whether this is a case of identity theft or another form of vehicle registration fraud.
