The death toll from the Christmas market attack in Magdeburg rose to six after a woman died from her injuries, prosecutors confirmed on Monday.
The Naumburg prosecutors reported that the 52-year-old woman passed away in a hospital. The other deceased victims were four women aged between 45 and 75, and a 9-year-old boy.
Over 200 people were injured during the attack on December 20. The suspect, identified as a Saudi doctor, was apprehended shortly after allegedly driving through the crowded market with a rented vehicle. Known to have arrived in Germany in 2006 and holding permanent residency, he did not fit the typical extremist profile, self-identifying as an ex-Muslim critical of Islam and showing support for far-right ideologies on social media.
