Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged industrialists to refrain from hiring illegal Bangladeshi migrants, citing concerns over cheap labor practices. Highlighting the issue after consultations with industry giants like the Tatas, Adani Group, and Mahindras, Sarma called for a resolution to the longstanding migration problem.
Sarma emphasized the need to disrupt the nexus of middlemen facilitating this labor influx. He underscored Assam's historical struggle against illegal migration since 1979 and stressed a strong stance without reiterating known issues to industry leaders.
As 'Advantage Assam 2.0' approaches, the state is poised to secure Rs 1 lakh crore in investments. Key targets include tourism, semiconductor, and defense sectors. The Tata group's semiconductor project and solar initiatives, along with potential defense investments from leaders like Adani and Mahindras, illustrate Assam's strategic vision.
