U.S. President Joe Biden is set to honor seven veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars with the prestigious Medal of Honor, while eight law enforcement officers will receive the Medal of Valor for their heroic acts that exceeded the call of duty.
Kenneth J. David, a Vietnam War veteran and radio-telephone operator, is the only living Medal of Honor recipient in this group. He displayed immense bravery during a May 1970 attack, distracting enemy forces to save wounded comrades, as confirmed by the White House.
The Medal of Valor recipients include five Nashville police officers who responded to a tragic school shooting in March 2023. The ceremonies are scheduled for the White House, with the Medals of Valor awarded privately and the Medals of Honor in a public press event.
