A man wanted in a 2018 murder and kidnapping case in Dwarka was arrested in northeast Delhi, police confirmed on Friday. Vicky Kumar, also known as Rituraj, was taken into custody while celebrating New Year's with friends in the Burari area.
Authorities said Vicky Kumar and his brother-in-law, Bhushan Kumar Singh, devised a plan in 2018 to extort money from a colleague, Sachin. After abducting him and not getting a ransom, they killed him in Baba Haridas Nagar.
Vicky Kumar initially fled to Muzaffarpur, Bihar, after the crime. Though later arrested, he was released on bail and subsequently declared a proclaimed offender in 2014 after changing addresses to avoid court proceedings. Police caught him in part thanks to a tip-off about his New Year plans in Burari.
