The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea filed by Karnataka Congress MLA T D Rajegowda, who faced vague allegations by a BJP leader in an election petition.
The bench, consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, ruled there was no basis to entertain Rajegowda's plea, suggesting that he could challenge the accusations at the Karnataka High Court once evidence is produced.
Senior advocate Shyam Divan, representing Rajegowda, argued that BJP's D N Jeevaraja had made baseless accusations, including the use of black money, during the 2023 Sringeri assembly polls. The Supreme Court upheld its previous 2024 decision allowing objections in a similar context at the appropriate time before the high court.
