Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 39 days, calling on farmers to converge at the Khanauri protest site on the Punjab-Haryana border this Saturday. His demand: a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
The protest gains momentum as farmers rally under the banners of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha. Despite the Punjab government's efforts to persuade him to take medical aid, the 70-year-old remains resolute, refusing medical intervention even as his health deteriorates.
The central government, led by the BJP, remains steadfast in its stance, prompting frustration among farmer leaders. As the Supreme Court underscores concern for Dallewal's health, the situation continues to unfold, drawing attention to the enduring struggle for farmers' rights in India.
