Crackdown on Bovine Smuggling: Operation Kamdhenu's Success

In a major crackdown on bovine smuggling, police in Jammu district successfully arrested 408 individuals last year, according to an official statement. The arrests came as part of an extensive drive named Operation Kamdhenu.
The operation led to the detention and imprisonment of eight individuals under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Officials also registered 378 FIRs during this period. A significant outcome of the operation was the seizure of 354 vehicles and the rescue of 3,408 bovines, showcasing the significant impact of the initiative.
Furthermore, police have set up a comprehensive database of offenders, enhancing the future enforcement of anti-smuggling measures. Addressing the press, Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh, emphasized the department's commitment to protecting public sentiments and animal rights by dismantling the bovine smuggling syndicate in the region.
