Delhi Police apprehended Rajeev Verma, a 45-year-old convict, in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh on Friday. Verma was sentenced to life imprisonment for a dowry death case, yet managed to slip away during a parole period in 2021.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh, Verma's conviction dates back to a 2003 case registered at New Usmanpur Police Station, leading to a life sentence by the Delhi High Court. Following a fulfilling tip-off, police captured Verma, who was found living in a live-in relationship.
Upon his arrest, Verma was identified and linked to several dowry demands made to his wife's family. The arrest marks the end of his more than two-year run from justice.
