A personnel from the Manipur Rifles was detained in Kakching district with a substantial quantity of narcotics worth lakhs, Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced on Thursday.

The individual, a rifleman from the 1st Manipur Rifles attached to the CID, was stationed at the Khongjom Post. His arrest underscores the sway of drug money over some security personnel, the CM asserted.

Commending the swift action of the CDO-Kakching team, Singh revealed that approximately 10.2 kg of suspected WY tablets were confiscated during the operation. The arrest took place in Pallel Mamang Leikai, and authorities are actively investigating further connections to the drug trade.
