In a concerning incident in Thane district, Maharashtra, a former sarpanch, Kadam Ugada, suffered severe leg injuries after an unprovoked attack by unidentified individuals. The victim, previously the sarpanch of Ajanup village, was assaulted in his vehicle by the assailants who also vandalized his car, authorities reported.
Kadam had departed his home at 10 am for work purposes when his car experienced an unexpected engine malfunction in a nearby village. It was during this breakdown that unknown attackers approached, stoning the vehicle and dragging Kadam out before inflicting severe injuries to his legs, according to police officials.
Initially, local residents had him admitted to a private hospital in Shahapur for urgent care. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to a medical facility in Kalyan. Police have lodged an FIR and launched a search to apprehend the culprits, with Senior Inspector Suresh Gavit stating that efforts are ongoing to determine the identity and motives of those responsible.
