In a significant statement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Article 370, claiming it fostered separatism among Kashmir's youth. He emphasized that the Modi government dismantled both terrorism and its supportive ecosystem in the region.
The abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, was described by Shah as crucial steps towards Kashmir's full integration with India. He highlighted that India's boundaries are defined by its rich cultural heritage, rather than just geopolitical lines, during the release of a book on Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah outlined the reduction in terrorism incidents post-abrogation, noting a 70% decrease since. This, he added, underscores the effectiveness of the government's policies and marks a substantial shift towards peace and development in Kashmir.
