The FBI is delving into a potential connection between a Tesla Cybertruck explosion at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas and a fatal truck attack in New Orleans. According to authorities, the Cybertruck was packed with gasoline canisters and large fireworks, resulting in a fiery inferno that left the driver dead and seven others injured. Both vehicles were rented through Turo.
The deadly New Orleans attack, which occurred on New Year's Day, claimed 15 lives, leaving investigators probing for any links between the two occurrences. A witness captured flames engulfing the Cybertruck outside the hotel, prompting swift responses from Las Vegas fire and law enforcement officials, praised by Eric Trump.
Authorities remain cautious about confirming whether these incidents were acts of terrorism. Tesla CEO Elon Musk clarified that the explosion was unrelated to the Cybertruck model. Turo, the car-sharing service involved, stated that neither driver had a criminal record. As the investigation unfolds, the Trump Hotel was evacuated, and guests were relocated.
