The tension in Imphal West district has escalated following the discovery of a hand grenade outside the residence of Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, who vanished last November. This unsettling find has sparked panic among the locals.
Authorities swiftly retrieved and defused the grenade located near the gate of Singh's home. A note found alongside the explosive demanded the dissolution of the existing Joint Action Committee (JAC), urging the formation of a new one devoid of certain contractors.
The JAC has been at the forefront of protests since Singh's disappearance on November 25. With Chief Minister N Biren Singh inclined to involve the CBI in the investigation, the case remains a high-stakes affair attracting significant political interest.
