In Syria, protesters on Wednesday demanded justice for four activists who were abducted in 2013, their disappearance among the unresolved mysteries of the country's prolonged civil conflict.

The activists, including the prominent human rights lawyer Razan Zaitouneh, were taken by gunmen in Douma. Despite hints linking the Army of Islam, a powerful rebel faction in Douma at that time, to their disappearance, the group denies involvement. While the current leadership under Hayat Tahrir al-Sham remains neutral, the activists' families persist in their quest for answers.

Yassin Haj Saleh, husband of missing activist Samira Khalil, emphasized that healing for Syria requires truth and justice for all victims, pointing out that accountability should extend beyond the Assad regime's crimes. Meanwhile, the oppressed demand resolution to the cases of forcibly disappeared people as part of the country's socio-political healing process.
