Federal agents recently uncovered one of the largest caches of homemade explosives ever seized when they arrested Brad Spafford, a Virginia resident, on firearms charges. According to court documents filed by federal prosecutors, more than 150 pipe bombs and other explosive devices were found during a search of his property.

The investigation, which led to Spafford's arrest, initiated in 2023 based on information from an informant who noted his weapon stockpiling activities and political views.
