A tragic incident in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district claimed the lives of five individuals, police reported on Wednesday. The unfortunate event unfolded in Sarwaha village when Sundar Karmali (27) descended into a well to recover his motorcycle, which he had impulsively discarded following a disagreement with his spouse, Rupa Devi.
BN Prasad, sub-divisional police officer of Bishnugarh, explained that Karmali, in a moment of rage, tossed his motorcycle into the well. He subsequently entered the well to retrieve it but failed to emerge. Rupa's cries for help prompted four others to attempt a rescue, yet all tragically perished within the well.
Identified victims include Rahul Karmali, Vinay Karmali, Pankaj Karmali, and Suraj Bhuiyan, aged between 25 and 28. Authorities are probing the deaths, with initial suspicions pointing to lethal gas inhalation as the cause. The well is now sealed, and access is restricted to ensure safety.
