A significant peace agreement was reached, bringing an end to the violence that plagued Pakistan's Kurram district for weeks. The ceasefire was brokered between the Alizai and Bagan tribes, following intensive efforts by local officials and tribal councils.
Both tribes cemented peace by signing a 14-point truce, encompassing the dismantling of private fortifications and the handing over of heavy weaponry. The signing was lauded by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's spokesperson and Chief Minister, who praised it as a transformative step toward sustained peace in the region.
The signing of the agreement signals the reopening of roads, which had been blocked due to protracted tribal conflicts. The collaboration seeks to restore normalcy and ensure that road closures—resulting in severe shortages—become a thing of the past.
