In a significant move, a prominent security bunker in Srinagar's Safakadal area is being dismantled, marking an improvement in the Kashmir valley's security landscape. Constructed in the early 1990s by the Border Security Force (BSF), the bunker once occupied prime road space at Braripora.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which had been stationed at the location, vacated it, allowing the dismantling process to begin. Jayiz Ahmad Alaie, whose property was adjacent to the site, confirmed the CRPF's exit. Locals have expressed relief, noting that the bunker's removal will alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
A senior security official emphasized continuous evaluation in the construction and dismantling of such structures, pointing to evolving security requirements. This latest development underscores both a physical and symbolic step towards stabilization in the region.
