A surge in militant activity in Pakistan's northwest has claimed three lives, including a child, and left 11 others injured in separate incidents on Wednesday. The region has been the target of escalating violence, with militants launching attacks at security personnel and civilians.
In the first incident, an early morning attack on a police checkpoint in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, left a police constable and a labourer dead, with two others injured. Police sources reported that unidentified militants were behind the assault, highlighting fears of rising insurgent aggressions.
Further unrest in the region was marked by a bomb blast from a motorbike in South Waziristan's Azam Warsak area, which killed a child and injured four more. Adding to the chaos, five policemen suffered injuries from a roadside bomb in Bannu district's Mamaskhel area, underscoring persistent threats to law enforcement in these volatile locales.
