Drone Strikes on Kyiv: Russia's Persistent Assaults Amid New Year Tensions

In a brazen attack on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, Russia launched a drone assault early Wednesday, leaving one dead and six wounded, according to city officials. The strikes, which shook the city awake, targeted residential structures and caused substantial damage.

As the morning sky erupted with explosions, Ukraine's air force warned residents of the incoming threat. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that two floors of a residential building were partially destroyed. Emergency services later recovered a woman's body from the wreckage.

The National Bank of Ukraine confirmed damage to one of its buildings, and another non-residential building was hit by debris in a separate area. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attacks, highlighting Russia's continued aggression towards Ukraine.
