In a fervent plea for justice, villagers from Massajog in Maharashtra's Beed district have initiated a 'jal samadhi' protest. The demonstration seeks the swift arrest of suspects implicated in the brutal murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, who was killed last month for resisting extortion attempts on a local windmill company.

The protest comes in the wake of the surrender of Walmik Karad, a key figure wanted in the extortion case tied to Deshmukh's murder. Karad, who turned himself in to Pune police and was subsequently remanded in custody, is one of several individuals embroiled in this high-profile case which has sparked widespread public outrage and demands for accountability.

As the Crime Investigation Department continues its probe, citizens express frustration over the slow pace of arrests. With Maharashtra's Chief Minister assuring the victims' families of justice, the police remain under pressure to apprehend the remaining perpetrators and bring them to justice swiftly.
