A shocking theft case has emerged from Mumbai, where a domestic help is accused of stealing diamond-studded gold jewellery and cash worth Rs 8.5 lakh. The accused, identified as Sudhanshu Yadav, was employed at the residence of a 73-year-old doctor residing in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri.

The incident occurred between December 25 and 27 when the doctor and his family were away at Lonavala hill station. It was only upon their return on December 27 that they realized valuables had gone missing from their cupboard, including Rs 4.5 lakh worth of jewellery and Rs 4 lakh in cash.

After a maid's observations pointed towards Yadav, the family confronted him. Although he confessed to the crime, he refused to disclose the whereabouts of the stolen items. Subsequently, a theft case was filed, leading to Yadav's arrest on Saturday. Investigations to recover the stolen goods continue.
