A case has been registered by the Kerala Police against the editor of a publishing house, DC Books, for allegedly defaming senior CPI(M) leader E P Jayarajan. The editor is accused of circulating false information about Jayarajan's yet-to-be-published autobiography on social media.

According to the FIR by Kottayam East Police, Sreekumar, the editor in question, is alleged to have obtained information from a journalist via email, under the guise of compiling Jayarajan's autobiography. Untrue content was reportedly added and then circulated by Sreekumar.

Facing charges under sections 316(2) and 318(2) of the BNS Act, along with Section 72 of the IT Act, 2000, Sreekumar's actions pertain to unauthorized access, alteration, and dissemination of private information. The controversy emerged on 13 November during ongoing by-elections in Kerala, as purported excerpts criticizing the LDF government and the Marxist party surfaced, which Jayarajan denied authoring.
