In a significant gesture of reconciliation, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh issued a public apology for the ethnic clashes that have left a profound scar on the state, leading to over 250 fatalities and displacing thousands. The CM urged all communities to move past previous grievances to ensure a peaceful future.
Singh, addressing journalists, indicated an encouraging decline in violent incidents, noting a substantial reduction in shootings over recent months. He expressed optimism for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the coming year.
In response to the continuing challenges, the state government has taken several measures. These include deploying security forces along key national highways, recovering looted weapons, and introducing the Aadhaar-linked birth registration for accurate demographic data.
