A farmer who had been missing for five days was discovered dead in a sugarcane field in Uttar Pradesh's district, the police reported on Monday. Initial investigations indicate a possible tiger attack, a theory also held by the bereaved family.
The deceased, identified as Kanhaiya Singh, 38, was sent for a post-mortem examination. The Hajara Station House Officer, Prakash Singh, informed reporters of the family's suspicions regarding a tiger's involvement.
Singh, a resident of Ram Nagara village, left home to tend his field and had not been seen since. His remains were found late Sunday about two kilometers from the village. Villagers reported sightings of tiger activity in the area and criticized the forest department for insufficient monitoring measures.
