Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, have eliminated 270 terrorists in 2024, including high-profile militants with bounties, according to an official report released Monday.

The province's police detained 802 suspects amid a significant rise in conviction rates for terrorism cases, increasing from 13 percent last year to 38 percent, as per the report from the Police Department issued by the provincial Directorate of Information.

The report further detailed the severe toll on security personnel, noting the loss of 149 police officers and injuries to 232 others during operations. The province saw the registration of 211,828 FIRs leading to 221,470 arrests, including those of 132 extortionists, 13 kidnappers, and 19,481 proclaimed offenders.

Under the National Action Plan, security forces carried out over 12,600 operations, capturing 67,983 suspects and targeting high-profile terrorist groups. Enhanced operations reduced crimes like robbery and illegal arms trafficking significantly, and authorities recovered stolen property worth over PKR 1.12 billion.

Anti-narcotics operations resulted in seizing 28,097 kilograms of drugs, including crystal meth, heroin, and hashish. Inspector-General of Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur praised the police's efforts in combatting terrorism and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring safety and law and order.
