Protests in Rajasthan have carried into Monday as opposition Congress and other organizations pressure the government to reinstate nine abolished districts. The districts, created by a previous Congress government, were dismissed as impractical by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's administration.
The decision to dissolve three new divisions and reduce the state to seven divisions and 41 districts was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Sharma. Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot has criticized the move, calling it 'unfortunate' and not in the best interest of the state.
Notable protests include a large sit-in near the Sanchore collectorate and market closures called by Vyapar Mandal. Activists and local leadership in areas such as Shahpura, Anupgarh, and Neem Ka Thana have mobilized to demand the restoration of the districts, emphasizing regional needs and local sentiments.
